Question Help with SWMenuFree

Ok...so I am sure this is really going to show what a newbie I am with this, but we all get started sometime, right?

I have installed SWMenuFree, but can't figure out how to make use of it. It shows up in my installed components, I can go in and make changes to menu parameters, etc. However, I can't figure out how to "apply" this to any menu. (I have even considered purchasing the "Pro" version, but why shell out $50 to find out I can't figure that one out either? lol)

I am trying to implement Mambo on a client's web site, so any help to keep me moving would be appreciated!

You don't apply SWmenu to a menu, rather you apply a menu to SWmenu...in the site modules control panel. In the parameters box, add the statement "menutype=mainmenu" if you want the menu to contain mainmenu items. If you're using 4.5.0, you can create mymenus and substitute their names to tie the SWmenu module to any menu you want. For example, if you create a mymenu called "products", the parameters statement would be "menutype=products".

Make sure that the SWMenu module is published, and set to the proper position.

The free version didn't come with a module, only a component. So, I ordered the Pro version and installed it. I have published the the module, and added the parameter. I then went to the SWMenuPro component and selected the menu style from the drop down menu and saved it. It appears to be working. I don't have any sub-pages yet to know for sure, but the mouseover effects seem to be working.

Thanks so much!

...but I still wasn't able to figure it out with the free version. Sorry to any others who may be searching for an answer.

This thread helped me a good bit, but still raises the question that I cannot find an answer to anywhere. How can I add submenu's to SWMenuFree?
Thanks in advance!

Well, I know how to add submenus...

You just add a normal submenu like you would to your site...

Its as easy as 1 2 3

1. log into the admin backend
2. on the "Menu" menu select the menu you wish to edit ex/ mainmenu
3. while you edit or create a new menu, select the desired "Parent Item"

Now, what I am having troubles with is that it appears to appear beneath the rest of my site with these submenus.
I dont know why, I have tried quite a bunch of things. It seems that it has something to do with layers. z-index doesnt work. Not sure what will. I am creating a new template and was going to code my own menu but then I just found this and it works fine except for this part.

I am greatful for your help! Thank you and have a wicked cool day!
