Question Problem moving Mambo 4.5.1a installation from one server to another

So here's the situation:
I copy all of the mambo files and directories from the old server to the new server and create the database from a backup (same db name and useer name). I change configuration.php (and other config files for add-on components) to refelect new directory paths.

When I go into admin backend, the top menu is missing and all the bits that are in tabs are now at the end of the components list. Links seem to work, but like I said, I'm missing the menu and the layout is crap. On the front-end, my fron page displays, but no css applied and menu links don't work. Modules seem OK, but getting "not found" errors for any kind of content.

So I have identical directory layouts and contents(except for path mods in configs) and identical databases, but different results. I've gone through this process several times with same results.

Both servers are linux, but php/mysql versions are different. Basically trying to move my hosted content to a development server and vice versa.

Any ideas, or experience with this?

Thanks.

I simpathize with your dilema... had the same drama.

What I ended up doing was re-install the whole thing and then uploaded again all the components, modules etc... this didn't take long.

Then I copied the original database and placed it in the new server database.

Its a longer way of doing it but at least it works 100%. But when you consider the time it took to copy and paste from server to server it really didn't take that much longer.

As you know the database is the most important as it illiminates the majority of work as it holds all your typed info.

Glad it worked for you, but I've tried 3 times now with no joy.

stugutz: Yeah, I could do that, but it's going to get real tedious until I have myy site in a stable form. But I'll give it a try. Thanks.
