Default How do I set up this navigation structure in mambo (sections/categories)

Hello everyone, my name is Chris and I'm a complete Mambo n00b at the moment

But here's my questions:

How can I set up my sections and categories so that they would be organized like this:

I think I would have 5 main sections:

General
US History
US Government and Politics
Psychology
European History

Inside each section, I would have these categories:

US History
-Home
-News and Updates
-Syllabus
-Outlines
-Outline v1
-Outline v2
-Outline v3
-Outline v4
Vocabulary
-Vocabulary Terms v1
-Vocabulary Terms v2
Practice Quizzes
-Practice Test #1
-Practice Test #2
-Practice Test #3
-Practice Test etc
Court Cases
Unit Notes
-Unit Notes #1
-Unit Notes #2
-Unit Notes #3
-Unit Notes #4
-Unit Notes etc
Political Timelines
-1789-1799
-1799-1809
-1809-1819
-etc
Political Parties
-Democratic
-Republican
-Whig
-Libertarian
Biographies
-John Adams
-John Q Adams
-etc

How exactly do I go about doing that? I'm not too sure how the navigation scheme works in Mambo. And also, is there anyway to set mambo up so that it would make the url like http://www.course-notes.org/ushistor...1/chapter1.php and http://www.course-notes.org/ushistor...es/jadams.php?

Next question:

I would like the left nav bar set up like this:

Main Menu

Home
US History
US Government and Politics
European History
Psychology
Links
Forum
Chat Room

About Us

About This Site
Contact Us
Advertising Policy

But then, when someone clicks on the course link on the left side, lets just say US History, the left nav bar will turn into this:

Main Menu
US History
US Government and Politics
European History
Psychology
Links
Forum
Chat Room

US History

Home
News and Updates
Syllabus
Outlines
Vocabulary
Practice Quizzes
Court Cases
Unit Notes
Political Timelines
Political Parties
Biographies

Is it possible to have it set up so that there is a different Nav bar for each section?

Thanks a ton for any help you could give me

-Chris

Default Re: How do I set up this navigation structure in mambo (sections/categories)

I just started with mambo as well. And it's very hard to find information for newbies how to setup up content in the right way. I search a bit and handled it. Here is the way i do it.

To publish Content you first have to create a Section and a Category and then you can create Content. this Content you have to link so, that it appear as a link in the navigation menu.

1. Create Section
Content > Other Manager > Section Manager
New > [fill in the formular] Save

2. Create Category:
Content > Other Manager > Category Manager
New > [fill in the formular] Save

3. Create Content:
Content > Content Manager > All Content Items
New > [fill in the formular] Save
Attention: Take care, there are 2 Textarea fields where you can set in Content (Intro Text and Main Text). The Content in the Intro Text will apear in the same way on the Website. But if you put Content on the Main Text, there will appear a read more link. And first if you navigate to it the rest of the text, the one you put into the Main Text Area will appear.

4. Create a Link to the Content on the Website:
Menu > Main Menu (or how you named it)
New > Link Content Item: Next > [fill in the formular] Save
Attention: Name is the Name of the Link which will appear on the Website.
With Content 2 Link you can choose the Content which should appear if you click at the link.
@Parent Item you can choose in which level the Link should appear on the website. With this you can create your Sublinks

I hope this could help you.
