Default 3 Level deep Main menu

Hi, Mambo Users

I'm using mambo since a few weeks now, i've browsed several forums, but I couldn't find a solution for the following problem.

I need a main menu that can handle three levels of depth, something like this:

Main 1
Main 2

-Sub 2.1
-Sub 2.2

--SubSub 2.2.1
--SubSub 2.2.2

-Sub 2.3
Main 3
main 4

Not all Main levels need to have a sub level, and not all sub levels need to have subsub levels, but some of the menu main categories have.

I want the menu to appear like a tree, the most ideal way would be that the branches expand when you click on them.
And when I make crosslinks in the content between differen pages I'd like the menu to adapt, so It's clear for the user that he/she moved to another page.

So my main question is:
Is this possible, is there something like this existing for mambo (so I can use it and customise the appearance) and where can I find It?
And if there not something like this yet, how hard is it to make and where should I start?

Thanx in advance,
Thomas

Mambo can handle that out-of-the-box, using the standard menu system.

Wow. I just love helpfull answers...

Tell you what: I'm on the same problem as you are. You might want to check my thread:

Menu / Site structure - Totaly Lost

This is what I've tried so far using 4.5.1a :

- Menuchapter
- - Sub I
- - - Sub II
- - - - Sub III

translates to:

- Menu
- - Section
- - - Category
- - - - Content

I have no idea if this is the proper way of doing it, nor do I know where to get mor info on this matter. I've had my post up for two days, without much success though.

There are some tutorials available covering content mangement, but the ones I've found are not to helpfull on this matter.

Your help is most appreciated!

best regards,

cathalturi

I can see that http://www.solsikkehaven.dk has multiple levels in the menu, how did you manage to do?

If you have small step by step description for this you'd really make me happy.

Thanx,
Thomas

When creating a menu item in the standard menu function of maxthon there is an option for parent menu. The default setting is top. for the creation of sub-menu 2.1 you would change the value -top- to whatever the name of parent menu 2.0 is. This is how i set up the right column on americathinks.org
