 Forum component that allows for file uploads
I need a forum component that allows for file uploads. None of the "small" mambo forums (Simpleboard, Loudmouth, etc.) seems to support this.
phpBB does, but I don't trust the Mambo implementation -- it doesn't let me use the User Manager anymore once it's installed and I've had it destroy a client site's user database too many times now to trust it until it behaves like a real module should.
(in case you're not aware of this, you can't use the User Manager once it's installed and you have to rely on adding/editing users through the phpBB admin which make the implementation a joke for a real business site IMO. If someone knows this to NOT be the case, I'd love to know more).
Anyway, I attempted to install phpBB as a standalone (not connected to Mambo) but the process required me to hack phpBB to support file uploads. If you haven't done it before, it is an ugly, tedious process. Somewhere along the line, I must have made a mistake and after 90 minutes of modifications, it didn't work anymore and I just gave up.
So my question is: is there a simple, easy to manage BBS that I can install in minutes versus hours, that costs $100 or less (it's for a non-profit client), supports file uploads and provides the same basic functionality any other board uses? vBulletin looks like a great product but I haven't seen any indication that it supports file uploads.
