Exclamation google cannot crawl your Mambo site

"In order to have your articles crawled by Google News, their URLs must contain a number consisting of at least three digits."

http://www.xoops.org/modules/newbb/v...26378&forum=10

Today I also got a similar mail from Google News.

I suppose the absence of such a number would be hurting even ordinary google search results. I checked sites that do very well on Google News and Google and they do seem to have such a number in the URL.

So is there a way by which we can make Mambo sites Google friendly and easily add today's date or just some unique combination of digits to every URL?

So instead of the URL being http://www.yoursitename.com/content/view/84/62/

it should be

http://www.yoursitename.com/20041205...nt/view/84/62/
http://www.yoursitename.com/content234343/view/84/62/

or something similar.

Alias Manager or any of the other search engine friendly URL generation tool would not do the job as you would have to manually set an alias for each and every URL in the site. That isn't possible.

Can somebody suggest a solution? A solution to this problem will be a big help to all Mambo sites that currently cannot feature on Google News and might also be ranking lower on Google than what they are really worth.

This news may not be true. Google respects any site with correctly and sincerely laid out contents and links.

For example, i can say, if i am having a unique site with unique content and running with those type of urls, Will google news crawl my site or not? . It will crawl the site naturally.

Anyway, if there is any rule from google.com site, we can believe the news. Thank you,

Regards,

Vrajesh

Hi,

I have a similar problem:

www.gamerc.com is the domain
www.gamerc.com/Mambo2/ Here starts the mambo content.

The strange thing is tht I did not get visitors from google, but I have registered the domain correctly. What is the problem/solution?

Kindly regards

Here is the content that G00gle sees on your page:
Code:
<html>
<frameset>
<frame src="http://www.gamerc.com/Mambo2/index.php">
</frameset>
<noframes>
<script language="javascript">
<!--
window.location.href="http://www.gamerc.com/Mambo2/index.php";
// -->
</script>
<meta http-equiv="REFRESH" content="0; URL=http://www.gamerc.com/Mambo2/index.php">
</noframes>
</html>
There's nothing here for G00gle to spider. I'm suprised that any search engine would spider your site. Why not just move your Mambo install to the site root?

No, no... You guy's aren't paying attention to the original poster's question...

He isn't talking about getting crawled by Google... He's talking about getting crawled by "Google News". As in Google News.

Hey guys why have the redirect?

What's wrong with a root install and save all the angst.

Google News:

I'm not real sure about that .. I've got a couple of site that don't meet what they say on Xoops but haven't got any emails from them.

Though my mambo is in subfolder, it is crawled and indexed by google. I have a similar index file in the root redirecting to the mambo index.php!!

Check out if you do not believe:
My site: http://www.medspan.info
when you click on the link, you will be redirected to http//www.medspan.info/main/index.php

Search in google:
Search for medspan egophony in Google

You can see my site listed there!

SO, it is NOT TRUE that when mambo is in subfolder, it is not crawled or indexed.
Hope I have made the point clear.
