Default new 'link to menu' option doesn't nest item in the right section?

Hi,

When creating a new category within an existing section I've been trying out the new 'Link to Menu' options that appear in a panel to the right of the text entry panels.

Apart from being a schlep to have to 'save' the item and then return to it to add the menu link, this would appear to be a better solution than the 'old' way of having to add a menu link in the Main Menu manager.

Unfortunately, it seems that whatever I do, the link that is added in this way always appears as a top level link within the Main Menu, rather than nested as a sub-level within the section it was created in.

Could this be a bug, or am I doing something wrong?

Cheers,
t

Had no problems with that at my end, this is a dumb question, but I take it you've specified the menu you want it on? Try checking the admin file and folder permission, if that fails it's probably a db error, ie the install is not writing to the right table. What happens when you do it via the menu manger?

It's not a problem of 'which' menu - I'm always dealing with the Main Menu. The problem is that the Link to Menu function can only create top-level links, rather than 'child' links. I've had confirmation from the official forums that this is the current limitation - I just think its a shame as for me it makes the Link to Menu function no more useful than the Menu Manager.
