Default Editor for MAC users ?

Some of my editors use a MAC. But none of the editors seem to work.

Does anyone know, which editor to use and/or which browser to use to solve the problem, so they can format the text using a MAC computer.

Thanks for any help

Hi

I am using HTMLArea3 XTD-C on a Mac running OS 10.3.5 as well as Mozilla or Firefox without any major problems (sometimes I have to switch between code view and html, but that is ok). Safari is not supported yet.

Other less sophisticated editors like rte are running as well.
Hope this helps,

jmr

Thanks, I'll get them to install Firefox and see how we go.

BUT HTMLArea3 does not work from the front end with regards to image/file management.

This makes it pretty useless right now as the whole idea of employing Mambo is to provide non-technical users the ability to add content. I currently run 4 Mambo sites and these are updated by non-technical users. It's great that they can update from the frontend as this appears less confusing for them.

I now have a need for 2 new sites to be managed by MAC laptop users whilst they are on the move. They work all around the world and so I cant be right there for them. I realy dont want to have to explain the backend stuff to them; this is one step backwards.

Does anyone have a viable solution?

Can we use an older version of Mambo (4.5.0 or earlier) with a certain WYSISWG that works in a certain MAC browser that also allows image/file management from the front end?

Perhaps there's another problem?

I'm using:

OS X 10.3.5
Firefox PR1.0
Mambo 4.5.1a
HTMLArea3_XTD for 4.5.1

I have no problems with front-end image or file uploading, inserting and managing.

I have however found one issue which might be the cause of your grief.

When the HTMLArea3 popup window first launches, it does so in the background. I've noticed that if you are impatient, and manually bring it to the front, often it won't respond to input - to the point of having to use command-w to close the window.

If, however, you allow to to come to the foreground in it's own time - not that much longer than going hunting for it - it works perfectly.

If you're still having issues, I reccommend you check your server's error logs, as the only problems I initially encountered with image & file management using HTMLArea rather than the {mosimage} tag was that the HTMLArea3 mambot had some incorrect permissions.

Can you suggest which files and what permissions have to be fixed?

I am using HTML Area xtd on Mac OSX and Firefox and when I try editing from the front end I get error message in pop-up window when I click "Insert file" button:
"Direct access to this location is not allowed!"

I would appreciate any help in fixing this.
