I have installed Ako Gallery 2.5 on Mambo 4.5.2
created 1 category
inserted 1 picture in this category
created thumbnail
created link on menu

when i access gallery link from menu, it shows me the picture category name, i click on the category name, i see the thumbnail, when i click on the thumbnail it shows me this error message

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: openconnectionwithreturn() in /home/byzantineicons/components/com_akogallery/sub_viewdetails.php on line 37

can anyone tell me what to do ?

Hello,
sorry that I am not able to answer to or resolve your problem - I've got the very same same problem. As I didn't find any solution by myself (all settings seem to be corrrect) and there is also apparently no update I decided to uninstall AKO. I installed now the ZOOM-Gallery, which is not as nice in its layout - but, it works.
As some friends of mine are using a previous version of AKO (and there it works), it may be worth trying it.

the component gets no updates recently so for compatibility with future versions (example 4.5.3 etc...) it won't work again. i'd rather use a component that is regulary maintained and campatible with latest mambo versions.

in the past i've used akoagallery a lot but since 451 came out i stepped over to zoom gallery, soon the beta 3 will come out.

there is a patch for akogallery somewhere on these forums but i don't know if tehre is a patch for 4.5.2.
i would advice you to take an other component with the same functions

Add "old" function in \mambo\include\database.php

RENAME THE FILE BEFORE EDITING!!!!

Did I mention: your own risk and copy the file?

It work fine for me. You will have the same trouble with the zoom gallery.
