Default Email not being sent using Contact Component

I have this weird issue with the Contact Us Component. When I fill out the form and click send, it says "Thank You for your email", but the problem is, I dont get any email!

Here is the weird part, when I select "email myself a copy", it DOES email the copy. But I myself do not get the actual email.

I have verified that my email address is correct, I sent myself an email too to make sure I was getting them at that address. Anyone please have some ideas???

I just solved this problem for myself;

1) Had to select SMTP connection and enter un/pw under mail in global configuration.
2) Had to have an actual email account setup on the server.
3) Linked the contact to a user (administrator)

Hope this helps.

Hello guys,

I tried the steps u have mentioned but still it only sends a copy of the email to the senders email address

I tried the following settings

I am trying to configure it to receive the mails to my Pop3 account which is info@intheframestudio.com
their Pop address = pop3.net4india.com
their SMTP address = smtp.net4india.com

so i have already selected SMTP connection and enter un/pw under mail in global configuration.
and also Linked the contact to a user (administrator)

Let me show u how the Mail settings under global settings look like

Global Configuration :

Mailer : SMTP server
Mail from : info@intheframestudio.com
From name : InTheFrame studio
Sendmail Path: /usr/sbin/sendmail
SMTP auth : Yes
SMTP user: info@intheframestudio.com
SMTP pwrd: xxxxxx
SMTP host : smtp.net4india.com

Under Components > Contacts

Category : Contacts
Linked to User: Administrator
Name: Dexter
Contact's Position: Webmaster
E-mail: info@intheframestudio.com
and then the other fields which i am not mentioning

Could anyone please tell me where i am going wrong.

Any help would be appreciated !!!

How can we mask the passwords in Global Configuration/Database and Mail? They come unmasked by default. Also the password in configuration.php is visible.
Thank you.
