new+learning is on a distinguished road
Default my sql 5, joomla + my.ini

I am trying to install Joomla and am having huge problems.

I get the message 'username and password provided are incorrect' on the second stage of installation. I have search the mambo and joomla forums and believe it is something to do with the strict mode of my sql? (please correct me if I am wrong).

In Mambo, they say to go into the my.ini file to change that, however I can not find this file in Joomla.

Can anyone confirm that these issues are related, and where the my.ini file is, or even confirm if I am on the right track???

I have been trying to get through this problem for a few days bit to no avail!!!!!
