Most distros have a seperate package for mod_php, no idea what the server is running but it should be pretty easy to change

Just has to be careful if he uses some kind of control panel that use modified php versions ( ensim, plesk, cpanel, ... ).
Also if he uses Redhat Enterprise, he would need to get rid of the default php rpm's ( that runs by default in cgi mode) and compile from source php as an apache module. If this is the case and need to recompile I can post a how-to if you want.

I have a switch in my admin interface for the server. I will try it out at the weekend. So if the server is down, you know why...
