Default is an RSS feed as content possible?

I was just wondering if it would be possible to have a RSS feed from another site automatically publish to the front page as content. Not to a module position, but ... well content.

Would be awesome if this was possible as then could have content categories linked straight up to RSS feeds.

Also would it be possible to have it language specific. Say a rss feed in french is only shown on the front page if the site is set to french.

anyone know if these hacks exist or are possible?

I don't know about an RSS feed going directly to the front page but I know that you can link a menu item to an RSS feed and it will appear on it's own page. I am not suer if that helps. You just go to your mainmenu or where ever it is you want the content ... create a new menu item and link to a news feed. Paste your link and when you save it you will see the new link on your menu and then click on it.

Have you tried making a module. Just go to Modules-Site-New, Fill in the form, towards the bottom you will see where it asks for the URL of the RSS Feed, and other options.

You could write a java script into the editor that will load the feeds, and publish it to the front page.

Thanks for the reply, but that is not quite what I meant.

I am interested in capturing the individual articles from an RSS stream, and then publishing them as individual articles in mambo. I raise it out of curiousity, as I dont know much about syndication or the semantic nature of the web.

cheers,

I know that you are not looking to include rss feeds into a module but doing this you can achieve what you want.

Modify your template so that you can place a module on top of the mainbody cell in the same column as the mainbody tag is placed. Now call the rss-feeds from the module and specify that you want this module only being displayed on the preferred page. It's best not to display other content items on this page.

Now the rss feeds will fill up your whole page so the content is more interesting to read.

Let's see if I've got it right... Basically, you want an RSS feed to show on your front page...right?

If so, I think this should work:

1. Create a link to an RSS feed that you wish to put on your front page (from mainmenu)
2. Make this link the first item in the mainmenu. You can call it whatever you like, but 'Home' will do

You'll see that when you access your site, the first page shown is always the first link of your first menu (mainmenu), so if that's an RSS feed, then it should be the first thing shown.

This means no modules, no fiddling with templates, etc.

Is there a way to make it look like freshnews.org?

I've got 10+ RSS feeds of people's blogs I wanna combine into the frontpage.

Thanks.

freshnews doesn't look like RSS in content to me. They just look like many modules all over the page. First you'll need a template which has all those positions, and then load the rss feeds into the modules... I think....

Jin Yonglin, assistant to the general manager of Gege, a famous Tang chinese jacket manufacturer in Beijing, said, It is wonderful to name Chinese-style costumes Tang chinese jackets, because Tang Dynasty ( 418 A.D.- 907 A.D.) is the most prosperous period in ancient China and China towns throughout the world are also called Tang streets.Sometimes those old chinese dresses are outdated beyond repair Borrow a relatives chinese dress. Sometimes those old chinese dresses are outdated beyond repair, but then again, sometimes theyre not. If you have an (aunt, mom, cousin, sister) who got married in a strapless sheath that would be perfect, theres no reason you couldnt too, assuming theyre open to loaning it out. You can still make the look your own with the veil, jewelry, shoes, a pretty sash. And youll have that “something borrowed” checked off the list. What about the modern cheongsam? With more exchange with the outside world, todays cheongsam combines both Chinese and western characteristics, traditional and modern features. There are bold changes and innovations. Whatever it is, cheongsam on one hand can still create an impression of simple and quite charm, elegance and neatness. On the other hand, blended with modern features, they can also show peoples individuality and distinctiveness. No wonder cheongsam enjoys a growing popularity in the international world of high fashion. It is a conventional belief that silk clothes should invariably be present in the wardrobe of everyone who claims to be a connoisseur, when it comes to clothes. The fascination of silk fabric dates back to the ancient times. Silk production was already present at the earliest stages of development of human civilization, and silk trade was a very important part of the economy in ancient China. It was the place where the first silkworm breeding and silk manufacturing traditions were established.
