Now that I have received the OK from Emir (which was what I was waiting on),I am going to make 404SEF compatibile with SEF advanced extensions. The key point made by him was to clarify that these are SEF advanced extentions NOT 404SEF extentions. I am making that point now. I will be converting simpleboard to an extension and the work for supporting the extensions has already begun. My thinking for for this is that if the extensions are "standardized" perhaps more 3rd party developers would be inclined to create them. (or maybe not, who can say). If all goes well, I hope to release a new version this weekend. One that will also include the fix for Lycos.

| 404sef,it works on Lycos too... ...late Hello,
I have a problem...
The time of posting is really very long.
Of course, if I comment on lines 66 to 68, posting is correct and
I preserve the error of redirection.
If I click on link n = > nothing
then I click n+1 = > page n
I click n+2 = > page n+1
I click n+2 = > page n+2
I click n = > page n+2
I click n+3 = > page n
and so
For the test, I've disconnected Events Calendar. |

I did notice that the initial hit to your site produced a 404 error. I have added an additional check. If this works as expected, I will add these latest version to CVS. Please update to this latest zip. |
So, after you did uptated and the delay was'nt Event Calendar.
I confirm : Quote: |
it is necessary to twice click the link to obtain the page.
| I've noted 'commented out' and not 'comment on' line 66 to 68 AND NOT 88
Perhaps mosRedirect() is very slow ? |

| Re: 404sef Hi all,
the SEF 404 is working great, but unfortunately since I updated to the Beta7 the generated URLs to the individual threads ate not working anymore. I am getting the following error message: Quote:
FILE NOT FOUND: /forum/kurs-16---ss-2005/view/15/
404: Not found
Sorry, but that content could not be found
| Here's one of my forums: http://www.china-community.de/forum/...05/showcat.php
And that's one thread within it: http://www.china-community.de/forum/...-2005/view/17/

Please help me... |

| Re: 404sef Hi M2k,
I hope you are still around and can listen to this post.
I have a problem with Titles that is not directly related to 404sef, but is certainly an important issue for anyone doing SEO with Mambo.
I have been using your 404sef and i must say that it is an awesome component and I really respect you for releasing it for free. Believe me if i make any money through using it you can expect some of it to be coming your way in the form of a donation
I hope you dont mind me posting the following here as i really didnt know where else to turn, and when it comes to seo fixes, its quite clear that u r the man.
If i can refer you to this thread where i have been trying to find a solution for writing my own titles any way I want (as this is ultra important for SEO) Dynamic Title Override
I found a solution to this Dynamic Title Override

| how do I turn off the Itemid? ok, I'm getting multiple friendly url's generated pointing at the same pages.
i.e. franchise-news/news-articles/flourishing-new-franchises-2.html >> points to >> index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=59&Itemi d=1
franchise-news/news-articles/flourishing-new-franchises-3.html >> points to >> index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=59&Itemi d=130
they both effectively point to the same thing, located at index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=59
but I'm not just getting one or two extras, I'm getting bunches of them, all with different itemid's. I realize this is kinda a mambo problem, but if there's any way to make this program IGNORE the itemid then I think we'd be okay.
also, can we make this thing truncate so it can fit the ".html" at the end of the url? Some of my titles are long and I'm getting friendly urls that look like this: franchise-news/press-releases/servicemaster-franchise-announces-sutton-promoted-to-chief-operating-o whereas franchise-news/press-releases/servicemaster-franchise-announces-sutton-promoted-to-chief-operat.html or even franchise-news/press-releases/servicemaster-franchise-announces-sutton-promoted-to-chief.html would be a lot nicer. |
