Angry Re: Paid Classified Ads For Mambo

You know what sucks? I posted this thread 14 months ago and there STILL is no decent paid online classifieds component for Mambo! All the classifieds components for Mambo are very amateurish.

I am not impressed with Hot Property or mosTree combined with MamboCharge Plus. MamboCharge is VERY cumbersome and not user-friendly. Oh - like users post an item and then have to leave the application, go back to their user menu, go to a MamboCharge screen and find that they owe something and then go pay for it? That's not user-friendly or intuitive. It's not even mildly logical. A customer expects to pay at the point of sale, otherwise you lose a lot of sales.

An open source paid classifieds component? Good luck! I can't even find one that I can buy! And I'm willing to spend a couple of hundred dollars for one.

I keep checking the websites for several professional PHP classifieds scripts and keep posting in their forums begging someone to write bridges that would at least allow their scripts to use the Mambo database and cookies.

This is just plain frustrating.

If leaving the app to pay for the ad is a problem then just add a link to your app so they pay after it's posted. MamboCHARGE can integrate into your program very easily but since it's an external application we can only give you the tools to integrate it with your site and your application. It's up to you and your programmer or site designer to integrate it in a manner that makes it easy to use.

If I can be of any help, just let me know.

Arrow Re: Paid Classified Ads For Mambo

So just as a matter of clarification, would you want a paypal payment before the ad is posted? and would you want the payment to be allowed in time units for posting with a renewal notification and option?

I have sort of taken over a branch of Mambads:

http://mamboforge.net/projects/com-mambads/

And I am seriously considering making a commercial version that allows payments for ads that are placed.
