pre-release of extended Poll component available!

Finally I made it... the first pre-release of extended Poll component is out. pollXT is based on the core component and includes many new features.

Main functionality added to the core component is:

unlimited number of Questions / poll

unlimited number of options / poll

pictures in question and/or option

type of option (radio, checkbox, listbox) configurable

results in popup or mainwindow

Detailed statistics (ip, username etc...)

It's up to you, to bring in your wishes, I'm open for all ideas, how to improve this component. Get your copy now at http://mosforge.net/projects/pollxt

Hi Omerten,

I would say a much much needed module/component for the mambo sites. I recently downloaded and installed the extended poll from mamboportal. These are the things I would say you need to look at:

1. The component xml file has a couple of errors. It has got an extra 'comma' (,) after the PRIMARY KEY statement in a couple of Create queries mentioned, this does not let you do a successfull component install.

2. I'm still confused, as to where should I keep my pictures/images for the polls? As it does not take the absolute path.

Except for these, it works miracles. Great work!!

I'll check that... but it worked for me and a couple of other installations...

probably should add it to the readme file... pictures should be located in images/stories directory...

One of the main functional recommendation I have is been recently posted. View this Poll issue: How to view previous ones!

Now the bugs that I have found so far:
1. Assuming that I have configured the results to be opened up as a pop up -

- When I have already voted then a message comes in the pop up with the continue button, but the button doesn't work.

- When I have more than one poll published then if I choose the second poll in the combo box (in pop up window), the whole template is displayed in the pop up

- Define the second poll on the same page and publish it (with results in pop up option). Now on the site, just click on VOTE buttonfor the new poll. The message "No selection has been made, please try again" comes on the main window and a blank pop up is opened.

I hope my bug reporting is not pissing you off. The component is really is blast except for these few things. I shall use it anyways !!

No way, I need people reportimg bugs... I'm just a little busy these days, but next bugfixing (and feature-adding?) release will come...

Random polls will be a nice feature.
I mean create various polls and show them randomly.

all bugfixed in the current version... no time for new features right now, but next week looks better...

Hola a todos,

thanks to all for bug-reporting and feature-requests... Version 0.8 is out with a lot of new features:

* Backend: Improved administration interface:
o global settings
o poll specific settings
* Frontend:
o display all polls, only one or only those where the user didn't vote yet (except multiple voting is allowed)
o define sequence of polls, display random poll (or all polls in random order)
o Select-Box to select specific polls
o Display results for all polls or only for published polls
