The DOCMan Project is proud to announce the release of
DOCMan 1.3 beta 4. We have been working very hard the last couple of week to bring you this
last and final beta. With it's release the core functionality of DOCMan 1.3 is finished. We hope to release an RC at the
end of january. The only difference between beta 4 and RC is the addition of a
language manager and DOCMan will also get an install wizard to allow easy installing and upgrading.
We did not only implemented all the features on our roadmap we also worked hard to improve DOCMan's
usability and workflow. The most exiting new feature is the
theme and templating system. Users can now completely style DOCMan's frontend layout using custom themes. A theme is a combination of css stylesheets, images, icons and templates files. The template system is based on
phpSavant. More information about how all of this works will be made available soon.
Besides this we also completely reworked DOCMan's
configuration layout and settings. The permissions settings, namings conventions and roles have been reworked. DOCMan now has : 'Creators', the person who creates/upload a document, 'Maintainers', person who looks after documents when created and 'Viewers', the person who can view documents.
And last but not least we also added
'direct linking support to DOCMan'. U can now link to files on other servers.
We added support for
WysiwygPRO to DOCLink, together with lot's of bug fixes. It should be working now on most systems.
Together with beta 4 we are also releasing a
search mambot, and
four docbots (email notify, ip filter, log and lot to file). A docbot is a specialised mambot that uses DOCMan's built in events to extend it's capabilities.
