Is this for people to sign-up for advertising on your site...ie, banners? Or is it more like a classified ad component?

It's like private ads component. The component can deal with user submissions, has a backend approval system, has multilanguage and subcategory support. Very soon there will be upgraded version of this component called Classified Ads. Here are the new futures:

- system of categories with endless number of subcategories
- picture upload with full control of picture size (resizing, thumbnailing-jpg,gif,png, etc..) by categories
- determining possible type of ads (selling, renting, etc...) by categories
- all bug fixes (form previous version - Oglasi)
- table layout
- many more

I think this will be very usefull component.

I think it will be too...when do you think the upgrade will be available ? And should I wait for the upgrade or will there be a upgrade procedure?

You can see the first version of com_oglasi on one of my test sites here: http://axelgap.free.fr under "Petites Annonces"

If you want to test the functionality, note you will HAVE TO use a valid email adress, as you recieve an email to confirm the add; I will delete all bounced mail/ads.
Also note this is not the current version (i think it was 0.5 I installed there), but it works very nicely already, so I'm very happy this is really taking shape now, especially after these last hints at future upgrades..

I tried the page but I don't understand any French so I didn't know what to do .

Do you perhaps have a Beta version I could try out on my site?

I also finished the translation to Dutch....I'll attach it to this message.
I didn't run it through a spelling checker but I looks fine to me....

I think I found a "bug" in the script.
let's say I've got 3 different category's "1" "2" and "3"
Category's 1 and 2 are set to public.
Category 3 is set to private.

When I'm not logged in to the site I can't see category 3 in the pulldown menu, as soon as I log in the category is there in the pulldown menu....so that's good.

But when I create an advertisement in category 3 then I can see the advert even when I'm not logged in.

Is this something you could take a look at? I really need this funcionality.
