Smile PartyStaff 1.0 RC1 released

I've just released my first own component PartyStaff!
It's based on Arthur Konze's akostaff and extends it with

-each user profile may be commented by others
-users are enabled to change their own profile
-users may upload their own picture (avatar-like)
- language support (english and germani, please help me with other languages!)
-users, categories, comments and picture upload are full administrable through the backend
-the admin does not have to create a new profile for each user, the user creates its himself
-the admin can choose which category new profiles are assigned to by default
-he can also decide, if profiles are auto-published or not

Please try it and post your suggestions/bugs/praises...

Yeah, a live demo would be handy

Even if it is just to see what it looks like, without seeing the admin section.

It just with all the components and modules now out there, I usually don't have enough time to install and test all the new stuff

Thumbs up Re: PartyStaff 1.0 RC1 released

Hey mightyb,

Thanks, just what I need for a project I'm doing now. Installation went fine. You can check it out here

I'm puzzled how registered users can create their own profile now. Preferably, I would like to offer a link to a profile creation page from the user menu. Which link do I offer in the user menu for this?

If you're interested in the dutch language file, I can post it here, or mail it to you. Let me know.

Thanks for a great component and cheers,
peter

thanks for the tester, sorry to try this;

if it's a standard install, then the comment part has a few flaws IMHO:
1./ name /comment titles missing above/ besides the input fields
2./ on submit, it sends you back to the profile intro page, instead of reloading the extended profile with the new comment?
questions:
3./ can you en/disable comments only for registered users?
4./ can you admin the picture (avatar) placement, or will it always display above the details, resulting in a waste of space?
thanks for more info, and for providing a live preview.

Standard install, the only thing I added was a Dutch language file.

1. correct, easy to add though
2. correct, I think it's easy to hack this
3. yes, you can allow/disallow comments altogether, and you can disallow anonymous comments
4. actually, the avatar is the blown up litlle ip.gif in the upper right corner of the details page, also shown with its actual size on the overview page. By default, these reside in the images directory of the component itself. I don't know if users can upload their own avatars as I haven't seen the frontend page creation side of the component yet (see my first post here). It's place on the details page is hardcoded. Users can of course put their own images on the page in the wysiwyg editor (well, I think so, haven't seen this in action yet).

Right now, my only concern is how to link to the create page function on the frontend. I can't find it anywhere, and the component is undocumented as yet. Any ideas are welcome.

cheers, peter

@peter01

The questioned links in your user menu should be URL-types to:

Edit Profile
index.php?option=com_partystaff&func=edit

List Profiles
index.php?option=com_partystaff
