Default Jobline 1.0

This is the first public stable release of the new job posting component Jobline for Mambo 4.5.

Jobline was conceptualized and funded by PICnet, Inc, which has graciously agreed to license it as GPL.

Features
  • View job openings - Users can list published job openings and sort on different fields.
  • Post job openings - Any visitor can post job openings, but they need to be approved by admin before they are published.
  • View internship openings - Like job openings but only for internships.
  • Post internship opening - Post internship opening.
  • Submit application - Users can send applications for job openings.
  • SEF enabled links.
  • All strings separated in separate language files for easy translation.
  • Search job postings.

More information about Jobline can be found on my site Mambo at the Yard where you can also download the component until it is available at Mamboportal.

Great stuff! I've been looking for a mambo component like this one for a long time...i've come across only a few job posting scripts but none of them were to my liking.

cheers,
bobcajun

Looks very good.
Noticed in the readme file that it's for 4.5.09
Are you planning a 4.5.1 version anytime soon?

Thanks,

Vince

Default Re: Jobline 1.0

i was so eager to try it out...i installed the component and I received the following error on the backend:

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare mosparseparams() (previously declared in /home/goatoron/public_html/includes/mamboxml.php:317) in /home/goatoron/public_html/administrator/components/com_jobline/admin.jobline.php on line 582

Any ideas on how to fix this?

Since Mambo 4.5.1 hasn't been released yet and won't for some time this has a very low priority, once it is stable I'll start to look at it.

I've heard from one user that there was only a problem with finding the correct template for preview in the backend, which is due to a change of how template information is saved in Mambo 4.5.1. I might try to fix this sometime soon since the fix itself is quite easy, however I'll have to keep the old functionality for the component to still work with Mambo 4.5.0 which might be a little tricky.

Sounds like you are not using the required Mambo version. Jobline has only been tested with Mambo 4.5 1.0.9. Since that function has never been in the backend prior to 1.0.9 my guess is that you use Mambo 4.5.1 as well. A quick fix is to remove the function from admin.jobline.php and hope it hasn't been changed in Mambo 4.5.1 and that it is always included for all pages.

I installed without any problems on 4.5.1.0.9
Function well, and easy to understand.

Only issue is that the search doen't seem to find anything - tried for a word contained within both Job title and Job Description!

Also, Spam Assasin reports;
Quote:
Content analysis details: (5.4 points, 5.0 required)
when sending notification message to admin. Not sure if anything can be done about this.

Lastly, have you explored a secure way of allowing CV uploads?

Thanks,
Vince

That's odd, it works for me. Do you get any errors? Are you sure you spelled the word correctly?

You can change the content of the emails by changing the appropriate string in the language file. The problem is that many of the things needed for a notification mail is what triggers spam assassin and other spam filters. If you have any suggestions though, I'm all ears.

No, CV addition might be added in a future version, but I haven't looked at how it should work yet.

No errors at all anywhere, or when searching. The component works without any issues, but just doesn't find any word I try that is included in the job posting. I just get:
Quote:
Couldn't find any matching results to your search.
No results
I'll look into the SpamAssassin filter and see what exactly makes it think it is spam.
