Question Help with phpbb and mambo

I tried installing the phpbb component for mambo and followingly entered the install phpbb section in the mambo admin section. There was an error unpacking the tar file, something with array, and so I unpacked it on my computer and uploaded its content to components/com_forum, and I'm now getting the following error when trying to enter phpbb and phpbb admin:

Code:
Warning: main(): Unable to access ./../config.php in /hsphere/local/home/impobus/spectronom.dk/main/components/com_forum/common.php on line 111

Warning: main(./../config.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /hsphere/local/home/impobus/spectronom.dk/main/components/com_forum/common.php on line 111

Warning: main(): Failed opening './../config.php' for inclusion (include_path='.:/usr/local/lib/php') in /hsphere/local/home/impobus/spectronom.dk/main/components/com_forum/common.php on line 111

Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /hsphere/local/home/impobus/spectronom.dk/main/components/com_forum/common.php:111) in /hsphere/local/home/impobus/spectronom.dk/main/components/com_forum/common.php on line 115
Is there another and easy way to implement the mambo users in a normal seperate installation of phpbb in order for the users to only register once?

Default Re: Help with phpbb and mambo

well well well... to be honest I tried a couple of times to install phpBB and still I see a few bugs in the redirections after logging in/out.

However I haven't found any bug in the install process and importing data from a "real" phpBB database.

What kind of version are you using? Are you using the "mambo component" one I hope... you should easily find it at this link: phpBB Component.

You only have to extract from the .zip file the component and the module archives and upload it from mambo. Following the readme.html included is easy.

After installing you can decide if you need to import your data from another pre-existant phpBB or if you like to start from scratch. I tried both without problem and from the mambo admin panel you can export you phpBB user data to Mambo once for all. After that very first time, users who register with Mambo get registered to phpBB and viceversa.

It works great. I only found a few bugs but not related to the data migration operations.

I hope to have been of help,
Fred AKA MrDisaster

PS: extracting a .tar from a server sometimes doesn't work because of a server limit. Don't know If it's your case.

Question Re: Help with phpbb and mambo

My problem is that my server is running in safe mode, and I use the safe mode component with ftp assist for installing new components. I can easily install the component and the login module, but I cannot unpack the tar file, is there a way to work around this? As I mentioned, I tried unpacking the tar file on my computer and then uploading the content to com_forum via ftp... did'nt work...

hi guys,
I was looking for a way to combine the mos_user table and phpbb_user table. I downloaded this component and it wouldnt work. Apparently on the official forum this component is not compatible with mambo 4.5.1

but this one is (only for V4.5.1)

Default **update** Help with phpbb and mambo

I have only found a few people who have managed to egt this to work. after 3 days of trying it has locked me out of admin, wiped my user tables (phpbb and mos) and left me very frustrated. after re populating my tables i still have no access so a fresh install is now needed. Beware of this add on. loko at the official forums for the depth of problems this has.

an excellent idea poorly released in my opinion.

perhaps im just an idiot who knows!
