Default A workable Newsletter Component

Given the great community of developers it seems strange that such a toolset as Mambo does not have a stable Newsletter Component

Letterman - on hold seeking a new leader
MAMML - Based on YANC - All sort of issues here and no real direction or stability
Simple HTML newsletter - no activity

There are discussions about wrapping other newsletter code but I'm not sure about why we can't seem to get this right.

Mambo ... a great system receiving accolades ... but hey we can't communicte with our registered members in a professional manner.

I have two web sites that we send the same newsletter to so we're dragging the emails from the database into one non Mambo system, how primitive.

What concerns me is we're about to launch two new sites for clients --- one 25,000 subscribers the other 15,000 in three sub groups ... both non profit groups.

I need something which integrates with the Mambo registration system and actually works with these sort of figures.

Other than that is there any way we can (without going into mySQL) export the registrant details in a format so they can be imported into another system?

I'm looking for a solution that actually works and is integrated with Mambo for people with out access or understanding of technical issues once implemented.

Not as a way of explaining the mailing list question, but with RSS/Atom/OPML being so widely available, and far better at handling many of the original reasons for having mailing lists... Is there a possibility that one of the feeds might do what you need without having to go through an export/import?

I agree with you however the majority of the people I'm working with have 56k dialup access and are not that technically savvy to know about RSS or are bothered to find out ;-)

I recon I'll have to go with another solution and see about extracting the addresses.

Them having dial-up may not have to be a deal breaker. I thought I'd see if there were readers that - like e-mail clients - can "dial" when opened. I did a quick search for open source rss readers and found one v e r y long list. Not that I'm uninterested in finding one for ya, but it's late after a 20 hour day Here's the search result.

But... here's something that looks interesting - with a subscription kinda' twist... http://www.fastbuzz.com/main.jsp - also free !

I'll have to agree here. I have tried every newsletter component for mambo and they all currently aren't working correctly or have problems.

When will someone come out with something decent?

I'm currently testing Listmessenger Light (standalone) before moving to Phil Taylor's Mambo integrated version.

To date it's working a treat

Good luck with WebInsta

If you don't control the server then it's dead in the water.

I'm testing Listmessenger before moving to List Messenger with a dose of Phil Taylor thrown in (http://www.phil-taylor.com)

Oh, not sure about that.
Are you sure this is the case with "WEBinsta Mailing List Manager", or did you mean WEBInsta™ CMS?

So, as far as mambo "integrated" workable solutions - what is the best out of the lot at the moment??? EG: most reliable with mambo 4.1.5a.

I installed maml (0.4.2) and it was giving success on send with nothing going out. I tried each mail setting (send, sendmail, smpt). I tested several times and unless it was a coincidence - it appeared that the server was crashing each time after it was sent. EEK, scarey enough for me to uninstall and settle back for a more stable release... Apart from that the features of maml were all I needed...

Gonna try Yanc now...

If that doesn't work, I'll move onto trying ???
