One of the real concerns I have about this is security. The school I run the web page for is very unsure about the issue of web access to anything even a system like etapestry, which has very good security. I would be extremely hesitant to store key databases via Mambo when almost every component or module I have added defaults to 777. Dealing with security and providing good documentation on how to maximize security would be a key issue.

In general good documentation--even a real set of FAQs--would be much appreciated. As a newbie searching the forums I see the same questions over and over again. I find it funny that the core Mambo includes a FAQ component but apparently it hasn't occured to the community to use it. I will say that I am pretty impressive about how easy it is to use given the limited documentation and lack of help on most modules.

Hi!

Following the mambo project over the past 2 years i see it as the top CMS to-date. BUT....instead of making eye candy and more components i believe that the focus should be on making mambo BUG free. This release does not even come with the ability to back up your hard work!

As a designer and a business operator i want the package to work...that is my main focus. Yes its nice to have add ons...but most are tests or betas or have constant updates that make upgrading in a lot of instances time consuming and difficult.

Yes its exciting that all the features are growing weekly...but what about its original purpose and audience? And i must agree with a few posts in that their IS NO comprehensive documents released with components....which adds more time needed to "learn" every mod or component installed with time spent in forums trying to find "basic instructions"!

As i said i love mambo...its awesome! but I also see it becoming a little out of control with components and mods....target audience and Purpose!

If i was to request a mod or component it would have to be an integrated back up system that you could set times and dates for backing up....no whistles or eye candy...just somthing that works.

This is very important, especially (from my point of view) if there was going to be integration with ebase or a similar system.

I do really like the mambo community and the incredible creativity involved in all of the modules, components and snips of code that people have shared. Still, it is a little disconcerting that since starting to mambo in late December I've already updated docman twice, community builder once and TinyMCE once. I feel I have to check the mambo news all the time, something which (while exciting) is not really sustainable over the years.
