| Re: [week 01] Is the addons list complete? Yep, I agree to most of the posts above.
What I would like to see is a component that allows structured output of content. Means, someone transmitted a form and it's content -after being reviewed by an admin - is shown as an article with some classification criteria. Or more general: I'd like to let my users write an article with more details than just headline, intro and text... Sounds pretty much like an addon for FF, no? |

Would also like to see a project management component, with features that allow you to deleicate task to other members that are a part of your site.
A CRM would be aslo be great that intergrated into mambo. | I think it would be pretty easy to port the iCal parser ( http://sourceforge.net/projects/phpicalendar/) over to Mambo. Some day I will.
That would solve many of the things you mention. |

| Re: [week 01] Is the addons list complete? There are many great components around, and I doubt whether we need any general purpose components any more.
The fact which makes me sad is poor ACL implementation and other core limitations.
For example, speaking about forum or gallery it would be much easier to integrate 3rd party forums (like phpBB, Coppermine, etc) if we had set of events like onLogin, onRegister, onLogout.
The same goes for ACL - at the moment without heavy hacking it is impossible to introduce new user groups into mambo. Therefore I can't use simpleboard instead of custom phpBB implementaion at my site, because I want to have different user groups: say members, paid members, VIP members with different roles and rights.
So as for me, we should think about enhancing core rather then 3rd party solutions, because core is the biggest bottleneck now. e.g. many components proposed here (say, groupware-like) are completely useless without proper core features (ACL mgt for groupware, for examle).
In fact, list of long-awaited things to be added to the core is very short: 1) multilanguage support, 2) ACL management, 3) tree/web-like content structure, and 4) flexible event-driven system so we could extend functionality in each aspect without direct core hacking. Though introducing this 1-2-3-4 will involve to much code to be rewritten. |

| Re: [week 01] Is the addons list complete? A SURVEYOR component like phpsurveyor.
A POSTCARD component like PostcardDirect.
A CLASSIFIED component like NoahClassifieds.
A QUIZZ component like phpQuest. |

| Re: [week 01] Is the addons list complete? I couldn't agree more. The core needs some serious updating before we can even seriously think about a groupware component.
At least an API should be released about how calls should be made to get a user's right. That way, even if all the user management tools are not there yet, people can build compatible components already and a couple of specialists can write tools like MAL.
It would be a nightmare to have different rights management for Docman, Events, Helpdesk, Directory, Staff, Gallery, etc.
A full Groupware solution à la phpcollab is the thing I miss the most in Mambo. Quote: |

This may be a very useful thing. Can be used to, links, real state, travels, industrial products, books, people biografy. And all we need is a simple component with images, custom fields and fronthend submission... |

If AkoStaff would provide enough flexibility in customizing fields and if it was searchable by mambo search engine that would be THE component, at least on many websites I manage. Now I have to do a lot of fixing and use some stupid and cumbersome workarounds to make a use of it. |

| Re: [week 01] Is the addons list complete? As someone who has created websites for a lot of non-profit organizations using Mambo, one thing that I would LOVE to see as an add-on is the integration of Mambo with a full-fledged membership/development component. T
his would allow non-profits to have a complete database solution and be able to tap the power of online community building.
What I am envision is the addion of a component with a comprehensive feature set, that allows non-profits to manage donors, prospects, volunteers, activists, email lists and more - all in one place.
There are some things out there that do this now, but all of them are prohibitively expensive (thosands of dollars per year for things like E-tapestry) or just not very good.
Currently, several of the non-profits I work with use an offline database program called Ebase (written in the Filemaker Pro format) created by groundspring.org. It's opensource and very powerful. I encourage you to download the software and check out how intuitive and well-thought-out it is.
In fact, I'd say it's format for medium-sized non-profits is absolutely perfect! It's brilliantly executed as a standalone unit. Unfortunately, I don't see an easy way to integrate it into Mambo.
Perhaps a component to integrate Mambo and Ebase??? That would be AMAZING - and there are a ton of non-profits out there who would join the Mambo community. I know they have talked about perhaps some integration with Drupal, but perhaps with some encouragement we can win them over to Mambo? low-fi |
