Opinions Needed Mambers,
Hey all. I’m looking for some informed opinions on a project I’m using Mambo for. I’ve volunteered to build a website for a small NGO and they’ve asked me to integrate some dynamic content into the project. Most of it’s static but there’re 6 news pages that need to be updateable; 2 in English, 2 in Romanian, and 2 in Russian. They’ve asked me to use Mambo specifically, but I can’t integrate all of the static pages since Mambo’s template system isn’t quite flexible enough (I need subroots, etc.). I installed the StaticXT module, but I kept getting error messages, so I’ve had to come up with a different solution.
So here’s where I need opinions. I was thinking I could install 3 separate Mambos named Mambo1, Mambo2, & Mambo3 for each of the different languages. (Again, the template system isn’t quite flexible enough for me to have just one Mambo. I’ve tried Mambelfish, but I get an error message on the top of every page I preview, so I’ve decided not to go that route.) Are there any obvious problems with this idea? Will I have problems uploading the Mambos to a server. I’m assuming that by naming them differently that there won’t be a problem, but I’m no expert so I thought I’d ask. Also, I’m using “Atomz” for a search engine on the static page. Will it be able to index the Mambo pages? I know Mambo’s got it’s own search capabilities, but I’m assuming it won’t work on static pages.
OK, that’s it. I’d love to hear opinions. I’ve looked into other CMSs but they were either too difficult to learn (Zope/Plone), unstable (WebGUI), or I just couldn’t manage to install them properly (Backend). Mambo seems pretty easy to use, so I thought I’d give this a shot. Thanks for taking the time to read all this.
Cheers,
