What The..? Joomla??? Questions

Hello!
I am... lets say outdated and confused, and I have several questions to you ppl, I hope you'll answer to them ;]
First thing is: What happened to Mambo?? Is the MOS project suspended? Is 'Joomla' just a continuation of Mambo Open Souce? Is this possible, to migrate from Mambo 4.5.2.3 to Joomla 1.0.3 ?
If so, what will happen to all installed modules, components and templates? And the one last thing - what happened to mamboforge.net

I hope you'll understand my problem of being outdated ;]
