Whatcha got there Jimmy?? What do you have to show and tell?? I'm hopefully going to find some free time to do some coding of my own. But I'm not the coding type I'm more for the look and feel of a project.

PS: Have you guys seen the new Club Lounges at the bottom before the international forums? I'm still waiting for someone to look and start answering.

It's a box of choc-o-lates. Forums are like a box of choc-o-lates, you never know what you'll get until you post.

What are you up to at the moment anyway? I know MamboZine is on hold, so are you working on a secret project as well? Seems to be the in-thing these days.

How's this allmambo site coming along?

I'm still waiting for an Australian forum, they've got one over at the 'technical support' forums but I don't think I'll be posting there.

Aussie aussie aussie!

Yes, the mambozine project is on hold. These days I've been keeping myself "pleasured" or however you want to state it with Templates. I have also proposed a new project to mosforge, which is called Backend Templates. I think the name itself explains it all but let me clarify. Templates for the administration! Perfect for users who have no knowledge of graphics and web design who want a nice customized administration area. For companies who have clients using mambo CMS and want to have a backend area customzied for them so it doesnt look too much like a mambo administration.

Yes, the in-thing is going on now, I've started working on some components but no dates, no more info as of right now, as you have stated before, you will have pressure by the community and you'll have to find a release date. I don't want that. That's why I'm keeping quiet and working on my things

Good work, I've been thinking about backend templating for a while now and the new 4.6 feature of choosing a style just doesn't cut it IMHO.

Blue. Yuck.

Look forward to that project

Yup, if the drama over 4.6 has taught the community as a whole anything, it's that announcing release dates, no matter how tentative, causes unnecessary pressure on developers. Also that it's best to take a few deep breaths before you post anything you may regret.

Especially if you're central to the community.

oooh, now I'm gonna get flamed for sure!

Haha it's not your first time is it???

Back to Backend Templates, I was thinking about making a backend template installer shouldn't be too hard. If you want to you can join the dev crew when the project gets accepted at mosforge.net

In my opinion it doesnt matter when 4.6 is ready as long as it includes the features that we are waiting for. I can wait until August or whenever.

Just my 2cents

You see you're not the only one who cfomplimented them, I did too Bug reports can be posted in the Mambo 4.5 Bugs section http://www.mambers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=11 thats the address

Yes, I agree that being able to change the CSS for the backend is nice, but it is not backend templating which would allow among other things the creation of an administration that is accessible to people with disabilities. Of course it would also allow you to make the backend look totally different, not just changing colour schemes and font sizes.

Yes you did, and it's all been deleted from the official forums now anyway. Good thing you did miss it, it was unpleasant for all involved.

After doing a bit of research following said drama I realised that such eruptions are actually a great growth factor in open source communities, it makes people re-evaluate their motivations and ideals. I'm a lot more focussed now anyway

I think that there is nothing negative about constructive criticism. Besides which the core team should be busy working on 4.6, not wasting time in fansite forums. They waste enough time getting involved in their own forums.

I do not think the following comments were especially negative:

It's fair enough that they are hard at work on 4.6 and don't have the time to handle everything, so why not delegate? A sub-team would allow for any problems that may be had with personality clashes and such, so that the core team can do it's own thing and not worry about letting the wrong people in to the dev group.
If you have a bit of a look around, you'll see that my comments are not unique and that there is a purpose in such suggestions.

Anyway, I realise you're new and have much enthusiasm for the project, keep it up
