Community Update
Wednesday, 26 May 2004
Recent events at mamboportal.com have again caused unrest and confusion in the community. This news item is designed to introduce calm and clear up the confusion.
Firstly, mamboportal.com is only a fan site and is in no way officially connected to the Mambo Open Source project.
Secondly, all is well at Mambo Towers and the core Development Team are very busy working on 4.6 as and when they can. They have produced a significant amount of code over the last few weeks and are really proud of the work so far completed for 4.6. The 4.6 release is going to be a very exciting release.
Thirdly, MOSForge.net is now the largest and busiest site for Mambo Open Source related downloads. To date there have been over 310,000 downloads of components, modules, templates (CMTs) etc. (over 6,000 per day!). MOSForge.net is the place to get the news first about CMTs as they happen. Don't delay, visit today!
And last but not least, as Project Manager I would like to reassure everyone in the community that we (the Development Team) are all commited to providing you (the community) with the best Open Source PHP based CMS money can not buy. |

Although I think Phils component (and yours) is too expensive, I support Phils claim, that what you did was illegal, manipulating an adserver like that. I noticed myself that Phils banner vanished in the same period you announced your component.
Furthermore, you keep on damaging the community with your poor judgement, this time by your choice of component and your treatment of Phil Taylor before and afterwards. You then shot down the comments at your will, censored whatever you liked, and then claimed it to be

After some indeep links to non public websites where posted in Mamboportal.com's comment system, the author of the comment contacted me and asked me to immediately remove them. So we took down the comment system for 2 hours to look over the comment in detail. The links have been removed now and the comment system is back online. Thanks for your understanding.

I closed down the comments here at Mamboportal.com to give peace a chance. However feel free to discuss this politely over at the community forums of Mambers.com.

Two different versions. Personally I think you took down the comments because you saw things you didn't like. It's human but not very professional.
Mark - I disagree strongly. A smart man would never have chosen to develop a component that is already in the market and being sold be his only client. A smart man would listen to critisism.
