This is what Robert writes at Mamboserver.com about recent events:

Community Update

Wednesday, 26 May 2004
Recent events at mamboportal.com have again caused unrest and confusion in the community. This news item is designed to introduce calm and clear up the confusion.

Firstly, mamboportal.com is only a fan site and is in no way officially connected to the Mambo Open Source project.

Secondly, all is well at Mambo Towers and the core Development Team are very busy working on 4.6 as and when they can. They have produced a significant amount of code over the last few weeks and are really proud of the work so far completed for 4.6. The 4.6 release is going to be a very exciting release.

Thirdly, MOSForge.net is now the largest and busiest site for Mambo Open Source related downloads. To date there have been over 310,000 downloads of components, modules, templates (CMTs) etc. (over 6,000 per day!). MOSForge.net is the place to get the news first about CMTs as they happen. Don't delay, visit today!

And last but not least, as Project Manager I would like to reassure everyone in the community that we (the Development Team) are all commited to providing you (the community) with the best Open Source PHP based CMS money can not buy.
Arthur, you could have developed any component, but your choice was a war declaration on Phil Taylor - since he was your only banner ads customer - you then used your position to make sure that al his banner views was before you launched your component, making sure that he would get the least exposure afterwoods, putting you in a favourable position in competition. Although I think Phils component (and yours) is too expensive, I support Phils claim, that what you did was illegal, manipulating an adserver like that. I noticed myself that Phils banner vanished in the same period you announced your component.

Furthermore, you keep on damaging the community with your poor judgement, this time by your choice of component and your treatment of Phil Taylor before and afterwards. You then shot down the comments at your will, censored whatever you liked, and then claimed it to be

After some indeep links to non public websites where posted in Mamboportal.com's comment system, the author of the comment contacted me and asked me to immediately remove them. So we took down the comment system for 2 hours to look over the comment in detail. The links have been removed now and the comment system is back online. Thanks for your understanding.
and you then writes this:

I closed down the comments here at Mamboportal.com to give peace a chance. However feel free to discuss this politely over at the community forums of Mambers.com.
Two different versions. Personally I think you took down the comments because you saw things you didn't like. It's human but not very professional.

Mark - I disagree strongly. A smart man would never have chosen to develop a component that is already in the market and being sold be his only client. A smart man would listen to critisism.

Kids, is sandbox too small again for all of you to play in????

My advice: open another board just for you to argue in and leave the community out of it. No matter what reasons are, you are all throwing a bad light on all MOS community.

This board is NOT the community. It is a single fan site. It doesn't even come close to representing the Mambo user base.

This is NOT the community. This is ONE FORUM.

i didn't want to drop water on fire

the problem that i wanted to point out was that someone in this comunity use any kind of argument to demonstrate his stupidity!! it's unbelivable that someone hack a site of someone else just to increment conflicts in this comunity

this kind of people has to be discovered (take log from the servers and find the ip) and banned from here

Actually...this board was opened for this exact purpose. This is the place for Mambo users to come and talk about things that are inappropriate for the official Mambo support forum at forum.mamboserver.com.

Specifically...this forum..."Commuity Arena"...was established as a place where mambers could come to do any trash talking, pissing, moaning, debating or whatever, as long as they keep it within reason and do not become too vulgar or abusive. You have come to find yourself in the "Mother of all Sandboxes"...where 'almost' anything goes...and where there is an ample supply of sand.

For the record...Birgitte and I happen to be pals...and I don't mind her disagreeing with me. Besides, she has a legal background and will look for loopholes in anything you say in an effort to strengthen her case. Bravo Birgitte!

You all have fun Mamboing around in the sandbox, now....and watch out for those cat turds!

Thumbs down Re: phil's site hacked?

I think that this is all a big mistake that Phil is doing. Yes... Arthur might have some wrongdoing there but it's not time to blame everything on him. He has setup this forum and people are using it as a "Community" and it should stay a "Community." We should not argue about what's right but about helping each other. Let Arthur, Phil, robert and the rest figure out the problem and solve it.

Hey...you're right too! See? We're not arguing!

Regardless of what goes on between Phil and Arthur...it's just a dirty rotten shame that there are people that do such malicious things as hack other peoples' web sites. Its downright terrorism and it sucks.

Jason Murphy was codding a form component. When Phill announced PAF for commercial use Jason, a great programmer and nice guy, abandoned that project. And now Phill think he is the owner of right to code forms components and others components for commercial use.
