We all owe him so much! even those (unamed here) stupid trolls that tried to hijack mambo and gave Robert and others hell!
I propose a new Mambo Award for exceptional contributions to Mambo and for Robert to the be the 1st MamboHero.
After all Robert Started it ALL! |

| Re: Robert Casterly If there was a Mambo of a Hall of Fame, I'd certainly agree that Robert should be in there, bronze bust on plynth.
His contribution has been huge and, I'd venture to suggest he has no peer in terms of any CMS community.
And, if he wasn't to ever write another line of Mambo code, he's done more than enough.
I think, if Robert's reading this, wearing warm slippers, with a scotch in hand, he should be proud of a wonderful legacy.
Very best regards,
Pete... |

Brian's actions were obviously those of someone with something of a mental problem, and not to be taken seriously. If you can think of anyone else you believe led to Robert retiring due to "personal attacks", maybe you can shine some light on the situation.
From what I've been able to surmise through chatting to a few people in the know about this, Robert's stepping down had more to do with a job promotion. Fair enough.
I really don't think the way he stepped down, and that final post, without letting even his team know what was going on, was a commendable action for a Project Head. Quote: |

Andrew has taken up the reigns now, and deservedly so as he has undoubtedly put more into Mambo Open Source than anyone else.
Cheers,

| Re: Robert Casterly Tjay, I may have had a few disputes with Robert in the past, but that is in the past. Robert and I have been on good terms for some time now, to say that I had anything to do with Robert's departure or the "personal attacks" he posted about is ridiculous.
I am not "Robert bashing". I have posted in several threads my good wishes for Robert in the future, and that it's a shame to see him leave in this way.
My pointing out that Brian Connolly is the only person who could have been giving Robert "personal attacks", and that a one-line exit from the community is no way to honour the core team or the community, is not "Robert bashing".
I thought that we had no issues anymore either, TJay, do you really want to get into this pettiness in a thread over Robert's departure?
I'd say it's best to drop this before it gets nasty, I'm offended that you could be blaming me for Robert leaving.

| Re: Robert Castley retired An idea..... If there would be some kind of mambo-fund, where people using mambo could donate, and the money would be spend on mambo usefull addons or charity...... would that be an idea to let Robert be in charge of the spending. Sometimes to hire a developer to create something usefull for all mambo-users and sometimes donate a charity....
One central Mambo-fund....
We as users and people who make money from it benefit from it through better components etc, or we support charity..... of course both.... And we keep Robert 'attached' to the community....If he wants something like that of course :-) |

| Re: Robert Castley retired You can donate via mamboserver.com, the money is used for the further developement of Mambo. I think it's a pretty weird idea to use it for charity. If I want to support charity organisations I can do via their sites. |
