What is xMambo 4.5?

xMambo 4.5 is a powerful, standards-compliant publishing system based on Mambo Open Source 4.5. Which version of Mambo should I choose, xMambo 4.5 or the standard Mambo 4.5?

Most people should stick with the standard version of Mambo Open Source 4.5. It is just as powerful as xMambo, and there will be available support on the Mambo forums (not so for xMambo) and you will have access to ALL standard Mambo components and modules. If you have any questions about what xMambo is, or what it is trying to accomplish, you will much happier just using standard Mambo 4.5. We are hoping that the Mambo core will adopt these coding techniques and that Mambo developers will embrace Web standards as well.

What is a "developer's release"?
It means that this version of xMambo is intended for developer's only, and not for general public consumption. There is no install tool, and xMambo must be installed manually on your web server. There are also likely to be many changes between this release and any official release of xMambo 4.5. If you want to use xMambo as educational tool, or a preview of what is to come, and you will be fine.

xMambo is an own cms with a seperated installation. I would install it but what's better? Is there no way to releasexMambo as a component for the normal mambo version?

The xMambo developers have already been added to the Mambo Core Development team...Most of the xMambo features will be part of the core in 5.0

The xMambo project was a very interesting one and it is was a brilliant decision made by Robert to integrate the two developers into the core team.

Although xMambo still has some features Mambo does not has, it is not recommended to use it. It wasn't updated for months now and it surely has a lot of security holes, MOS doesn't have anymore.

xMambo was updated to 1.0.5, no idea if Travis will be updating to 1.0.7 but it seems probable.

This is Tim Broeker site, Xmambo developer. It is the original Xmambo and based on Mambo 4.5 1.0.1

This site is running Travis S updated version of Xmambo, which is based on Mambo 4.5 1.0.5
The site is not run by either Tim or Travis and is simply a site owned by a Mambo user who has decided to run Xmambo on it.
