LOL
When they announced Mambo as the winner of the Best Open Source Product award, I was just focused on making it to the podium and then back to my chair.
But when they announced Mambo for the Best Overall, I really did think I was going to drop. I mean, gimme a break! We were up against the titans - RedHat, Novell/SuSE, KDE, Intel, AMD, gosh just about every company in technology that I have ever heard of.
The funniest part was all the people in smartly-dressed suits sitting around me, asking "What the *@&% is a Mambo?" as I was walking up for the awards. I heard that after the awards there was a stampede at the booth, and the volunteers hadn't learned yet that we had won both awards. LOL
I'm just horribly sad that none of you were there to see it happen, or to experience it with me. What an absolutely incredible feeling!
Mambo is more than some PHP code and a bunch of developers - we've become a phenomenon that is gaining attention around the world. And I could not possibly be more proud, especially for Mambo!
What a great team, and what a great community!
Now I'm getting all mushy inside again, going to bed now ;-)
