Hi there

In case you didnt see it:

4.6 info update Ê

Wednesday, 28 April 2004
4.6 is well on target for a mid May beta delivery. Some people have been asking if it will be possible to upgrade their 4.5 install to 4.6 ... of course it will! There are a couple of minor database changes which will be included in the database upgrade file. Also all fixes that since 4.5 (1.0.7) will be available in 4.6.

There have been a number of significant improvements implemented over the last few days:

Replaced miniXML with DOMIT - this will overcome the problem with installing CMTs if you are running PHP 4.2.

Improved control of the display of blogs - 1 column, 2 column, 2 column with leading story.

Upgraded the ZIP library used by the CMT installer

Dynamic Template System - the ability to assign a template to a menu item e.g. the blue template can be assigned to Home, the red template assigned to news and the orange template for the rest of the site.

RTE (Rich Text Editor) is now the default WYSIWYG editor as this works in both IE and Mozilla. Htmlarea2/3, WYSIWYGPro and xStandard support is still provided.

If you have some spare time, help with the testing. You can download it from CVS and help isolate the bugs. It's stored as the MamboOS module on CVS at SourceForge.

No. Download a copy of TortoiseCVS. It integrates with Windows Explorer. You can create a directory on your local machine, right click on the folder and select CVS Checkout from the context menu. Then fill in the following fields in the Checkout Module dialog:

For Protocol, select:

Password server[:pserver:]

For server, enter:

cvs.sourceforge.net

For Repository Folder, enter:

/cvsroot/mambo

For User Name, enter:

anonymous

For Module, enter:

MamboOS

Then click OK. It will download the current set of files to the folder. Leave this folder intact, so you can download new releases periodically and copy the files from that folder to a new folder for testing.

Before running the installer, be sure to uncomment (remove #) the INSERTS statements at the bottom of the mambo.sql file so it adds user and password data. You might want to modify these on your own with your normal login and password (copy the MD5 hash for your password from an existing site and paste it in).

Tortoise will automatically use the default port for your system. I've included a jpeg screen capture of my tortoise setup.
