Mambo Community Annual Donation

Many of you will know that Robert Castley is donating his Mambo Community Gift to others who are needy.

Some of us Mambers inspired by this have been discussing the setup of an annual Mambo Charity donation site and opening this out to Mambers to discuss seems the thing to do.

In accord with this discussion I am willing to register a name and hosting for a mambo community donation site. I would hold the name in trust.

As a community site it needs the community involved and feedback initially on the following.

1. What name should be registered (EG MamboGiving.org)
2. Who would like to be involved A in the Site & B in promoting
3. How & who should hold the $/£ etc
4. As this is being started at Christmas should it be annual at that time
5. Suggestions for the 1st benificiaries ( with the community able to vote for the final recipient.)

Not only is this a great idea for helping others and giving back but it will make great PR for Mambo.

I have had the idea that those that donate say $5+ per month get listed ( if they like) on the site as Supporters, $10+ as Sponsors with maybe Silver, Gold & Platignum and possibly say for big corporates Premier.

There are lots of ideas we could include so lets hear back from you and lets use the Power of Mambo for others.

Yes I like that.

I say yes. $8.95 at godaddy.com or $8.50 at mydomain.com. If someone comes up with something better, we can always use it for some other mambo community site since it is somewhat generic.

I will set up the host now for domain live after Christmas.

On mambo 4.5 1.0.9 or 4.5.1a?

I don't really know 4.5.1 but it might be a good time to learn, but not sure if the donation tracker works on that?

Maybe a Template competition to get the site going prelaunch, do you think MamboPortal would anounce it.

Plus recipient nominations once site is live?

A link donate module would be cool on others sites.

4.5.1a for sure! If the module doesn't work, we'll find someone to upgrade it.

I'm sure both Arthur and Mamobhut will be happy to put an announcement up on the site.
