In the category of 'Best Linux or Open Source Software', MOS was up against:

KDE
Firebird SQL
eGroupware
Can you imagine? Mambo beat KDE and Firebird SQL??!?!!?

Excellent job, Mambo Core Team!! This wouldn't have happened if it was not for you guys!!

Yes, but it took one tight-knit community to post the number of votes required to win. Think about that when you consider how large the KDE community is!

The wonderful thing about Mambo is the urge that it and the community in general gives a user to get more involved. You do not see this very often to the extent you see it in the Mambo community. We have a great community where users enjoy helping other users and where users want to see Mambo grow.

Also I think that Arthur has been very instrumental in helping to make this possible, largely because of mamboportal.com and now mambers.com. In most other CMS communities, it's rare to find a single place where you can gain access to all files and seek help with installations for all of those files. My time has been fairly limited lately, but I find myself visiting this site much more than others, largely because the heart of the community seems to be beating here more than elsewhere.

mmx,

What you've said is true. I've been part of different communities and so far, Mambo community has been the best. I do not know why exactly but the people here seems to be more down-to-earth and friendly. They are more sincere with their help and most of all, everyone is looking forward to see Mambo advancing.

It feels like a big family here. Again, special thanks for Robert whose leadership has been fantastic, to the core developers for giving so much without asking anything in return and to Arthur who had pulled all Mambers together.

Of course, I won't forget all the major players, the beginners and the people in the Mambo community.

Let's keep this going strong...
