We have a client here that would like to use Mambo to serve out their adult content. My main concerns are the security of the site, integration of a VOD (video on demand) player, and displaying image galleries. Do any of you have any experience in this area? I'd love to know if there are any modules or components you'd recommend I check out.

By adult content, do you mean political analysis, economic forecasts, studies of ancient Greek literature and so on?

I think you got that partially right mambomango. Probably he means political analysis...

to give you a basic answer...i dont know of any VOD components for mambo, although many programs can be 'wrapped' into mambo using the wrapper component...also there are a few galleriy components for mambo, but again you may be able to easily take an adult thumbnail gallery feed and 'wrap' it into the mambo content...

LOL

Sure You can nicely wrap any gallery script like Coppermine inside Mambo, check out MamboHUT (http://www.mambohut.com) gallery section ;)

You'll also want to make sure you get PAID for your content. Phil Taylor has a module secures and provisions login names for paid content. You'll need something that works with CCBill and iBill, or whoever your payment processor will be. If you need some help, let me know.

I am in the same boat. I have a client looking to do an adult content site, but I am not sure how to connect Mambo's user management to the ccBill system. Any assistance you can offer would be greatly appreciated, and compensated pending I can get it functioning.

Both iBill and CCBill have notification functions that will post back subscriber information to a script on your site. So it's a two-step process:

1. Receive the post-back information from the CC provider.
2. Create a new username in the back end based on the chosen UID and PWD.

Both companies should have APIs that will allow you to capture this information. Development on the hook into mambo should be a 4-6 hour affair for a PHP programmer.

Also, when requesting these services, make you you get an experienced engineer on the project, not a client service rep who deals with HTML.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the input. While I am not much of a PHP programmer, I was hoping to find an already assembled module. If this is going to require custom PHP work, I am going to have to hire someone Mambo proficient.

I do not see how you will make this site secure without htaccess. Mambo would need some kind of htaccess controller component otherwise any of the media files on your server would still be visable using a direct path. If the images and media were kept in Binary on the database this would be the only work around I know, but I never dealth with databases of this size.

If anyone does know the answer please let me know as I too have a client like this.

I have made a adult orientated mambo site:

www.sexinbelgium.info

I have solved the thing about security by only offering content who is at the providers page....
(it is no real solution I know, but llet the provider solve the security thing ;-) )

The site is working fine I use autogallery and a trade script with the site...
