View Full Version : MamboZine - Online Magizine
You have heard about it in the past. You have heard and read about it now. And now you ask...why MamboZine back in the picture now.
Well because Mambo 4.5 has developed to where MamboZine is now possible to intergrate and create without altering the core.
I am looking for 5-6 developers to help out with this project. To help bring MamboZine to life.
What is MamboZine. Well it is an idea based News.com Bring the ability to produce an online Maginzine with many features.
To read more about it visit www.corephp.com (http://www.corephp.com)
Project files will be housed as www.mosforge.net/projects/mambozine (http://mosforge.net/projects/mambozine )
Those that are interested please post here for contact me. Again this will be a very intesting project to start.
Wow, this sounds great! I started looking for content management software in order to produce an online magazine. The struggle was all up hill. The systems that were out there were either way expensive, or if they were opensouce were either too complicated, undeveloped or abandoned. This search eventually led me to Mambo. I just started using Mambo and I'm going to try to use it put together an issue or two. I would be more than happy to help out but I have no experience with programming these kinds of things. I had a major disaster upgrading from mambo 188.8.131.52.5 to 1.0.7. Now that I am somewhat familiar with Mambo, I'm very excited to see what comes of MamboZine. Good luck!
Sounds like an interesting project Steven :)
Would be a great addition to the Mambo arsenal and will watch with keen interest its development.
Just had a quick squiz at your project document and looks great. :D
I would offer to help out, but my plates a little full at the moment
Keep up the great work.
Yes it would be a great addition and at the moment im also looking for differant feature request. So go ahead and post your ideas and wants.
uh...i mean no offense but after reading the doc, i'm not entirely sure how this would work better than mambo's current article system...
If you are running a site say for instant like CNN or News.com you will notice that Mambo is very limited or can not control the content that will show up on Mambos site. Thus a solution has to be formed....by creating a component with the ability to structure your articles as well as form easy to administer emails to authors to finish there articles before there deadline...etc. Thus the ability to have special members have a compact PDF (feature will be the last) increases the ability to have Mambo on various other sites. As well as a component that will have commercial features built into the high quality component.
So will this component be small....not...it will take time to develop and help to develop it.
Also with the ability to customize the layout and placement using the mosbots will ensure the flexability of the online magizine.
fair enough... having more control over layout would be nice, and it can never really hurt to improve the workflow even more...
Will add this feature request to Mosforge, but I thought I'd say it here too...
It would be great if there was a way to set up mosbot rules that are applied after the article is submitted, like "insert page break after x-number lines" or "insert mosphp (for display ads, or something) on each page after x-number lines".
Added a couple of feature requests to the project. I'd offer support too, but don't think my PHP skillz are l33t enough. :(
Well, i am a journalist, not a programmer. If you think i can help, ask me...
Just thought of a great idea. What about having the ability to send the front cover or something like to to all the members when a new mag gets published?

this has been added to the todo list....
