Phil-a-form email problem

I tried asking this on the forum on Phil's site, but there doesn't seem to be much activity there...

I'm having a problem with the email not sending when I submit a form.
I've installed his recent email.php patch, and still no success.
(the action is published).

The form appears to be functioning & displaying
correctly, but the email never gets sent. The regular user registration emails are being sent fine. Other applications I have
running on this server (such as oscommerce, etc) can send email forms
fine. So it seems sendmail works OK.

I noticed that even when I made a test of my form on *his* demo site, the email didn't get sent. I must be doing something really dumb. Can anyone assist with some suggestions? BTW, I'm running 1.0.3.

You may try an upgrade. I seem to remember a lot of components having to be changed for one of the past releases(1.0.4?). 1.0.7 was released recently, so you might go for that.

thanks, travis. The communication I got from the PAF site stated that it was only supported for 1.0.3, which is why I chose to use that in the first place!

The guy clearly has the latest phil-a-form. The problem seems to be that he is not getting any help from the program developer. If the problem is also on the demo site then it is hardly a local issue for him.

Dave, you're right about that, and I understood that he had the latest component. I wasn't sure if all the updated components were backwards compatable with earlier mambo core releases, which is all I was saying.

Don't know if you guys got this, but he has posted a patch on his site for the e-mail problem. Works for me.

drbomba- what version of MOS are you running? I'm running 1.0.3. I tried the email patch with no success. I was running PAF 0.7, which I downloaded last month. I also tried downloading 0.71 as well as the email.zip patch...no luck.

I'm going to try an upgrade to MOS1.0.7, but I don't want to open up any other potential conflicts with other parts of my site build.

my fault was, that i had some spaces in the elements name.

after changing this, it works. (lite-version 0.51)

We tried all means to get support for this commercial component but no luck. It is still not working on Mambo 4.5 version 1.0.7. The developer is ignoring emails requesting support or a refund even though his site says 100% satisfaction guarantee. His site says among other things "I am a Christian, Get a Life!" but his actions do not speak favorably of Christians. :eek:

I have no idea and no interest in knowing Phil's personal story. If he is not willing to backup the software, why does he keep offering it for sale?

For your information version 0.8 of Phil-a-form has over 5000 lines of code added to provide a completly new email system for the delivery of form submissions!!!

Version 0.8 will be released shortly.

The email.php fix DOES work if applied correctly - It has had over 300 downloads

I do not monitor mambers.com and was only drawn here by another persons comments on an email.

If you think I am ignoiring your posts its cause I am! Use the automated forms on http://www.phil-taylor.com to contact me - you will also see a link there to my email stats - over 5000 emails per week! No wonder sometimes it takes a while.

And if you are acusing me of fraud then I suggest that you dont bother buying my components again. I am the worlds only full time mambo developer and in part I have helped develop the system you know as mambo - I have over 1000 happy customers worldwide and I make 100% of my financial income from mambo custom components - No one else has that responsibility, no one else has that amount of commitment to users - I go totally out of my way to assist customers, however fraud is not something that anyone can accuse me of.

A few weeks ago, when I complained about serious bugs in PAF and lack of support from Phil, many people chastised me and stood by Phil. All I wanted was a functional product that I and many others paid for. Phil came out with version 0.8 and that solved a few problems but created more (like the form being accessible only to registrered users). I even took my "fraud" charge back and purchased his DirectoryFramework component. I installed the directory component and was surprised that a directory component did not have a user submit button (for suggesting directory entries). Never minding that, the component crashed after a few clicks giving error messages. I posted messages and help requests on his bug tracker three weeks ago and those messages are still waiting for an answer. Finally, I requested a refund and gave all the information he requested but I have a feeling there will be no sign of a refund.

If this is not fraud, I do not know what is. I have been cheated by a Christian and I know this behavior is not representative of Christians. I would not have brought Phil's faith into this if it were not for him bragging about it and acting unlike anything this faith calls for. As I see it now, being Christian is just a gimmick he chose to use to dupe others. Shame on you Phil and shame on me for being duped twice!

I do not know what situation you are referring to and what Arthur has to do with this thread or with this issue. What I know now is that I have been duped twice by Phil Taylor and that phil-taylor.com is still duping others into buying defective software. As you know, a fool is born every minute. Newcomers and those who do not read this talk will easily fall prey to the promises the site makes (such as refund guarantees, lifetime support, functional software, etc...). It is that situation that needs addressing by this community. The community needs to make it clear to Phil that he must deliver what he is promising and what he is getting paid for or to cease and desist and stop using the Mambo platform as a method of ripping people off. Commercial developers like Phil Taylor are giving the other Mambo commerical developers a bad name. Personally, I am not sure I can trust any other commercial Mambo developer after this experience.
