user functions

Can anyone point me in the right direction for this. I am a little confused about all the "user" components that are available. Many of them state that they work with the others but some of them seem to be doing similar things. So why would you need all of them, or even most of them? Can all the user functions be used at the same time? I recall reading somewhere that there can be problems with user registration functions when you add some of the components but I couldnt find anything in the documentation to explain what might happen.

I'm talking about userlist extended, user XTD, user profile, myPMS, etc etc

I just dont quite understand how they all work, what they all do and how they work together.

Is there a site where you can see a demo of all of them working and get further information? I tried searching here and at the mamboserver forum but couldnt find much information on them.

Any thoughts appreciated.

PS I already use myPMS with the standard registration system and no user list component

Wow - excellent site! Thats such a great idea! I will be checking more of your site as needed. But it doesnt really help me sort out these particular questions. I'll have another look and see if I missed seeing some of the things I need to check out.

Userlist Extended or XTD > It shows you a list of users with info such as name, nickname, register date, last visit time & date...and it integrates with userprofiler, mypms and partystaff... (Just a list... with 'easy' links to access to users data)
Userprofiler > Havent tested, but seems to be like PartyStaff
MyPMS > to send 'pms' between users... it is the only component that can make this...
Party Staff > a component to let users add info about themselves, a pic, and other thingies... but there is a problem... it's listing is really bad... if you had 400 users, it shows all of them in 'one list'... no multipage... (it is convenient to use 'userlist xtd' with this component, because you have multipage support and... if a user doesnt have a 'profile' with party staff, then, it doesnt show a way to access to 'his/her' info...
User XTD > its a component that lets you modify the fields that the users may add to its info in the registration form (to have this at registration, you have to change the link of 'register' to this new comp...if not it will use mambo defaults user component)

Finally... i recommend you install...
MyPMS, PartyStaff and user XTD... then Userlist Extended...and in the config of this last one, turn on the compatibility with the other components...
