Hi

I stupidly installed the new version of Simpleboard without waiting to see if bugs get reported like I usually do with new releases. Not only that, but instead of using one of my smaller sites, I used it in my popular site with lots of members. I dont know why I did this....too much coffee perhaps. :)

Anyway, it has caused problems with the site and I just wondered if anyone here knows if its possible to uninstall the new version and reinstall the old version without losing everything. I dont want to stuff it up any further.

I did back up my database and tables but I have never restored the system before. If I uninstall the new Simpleboard component and then run the restore from the back up I made will it all return to the way it was before I rushed in like a fool??? Do I need to uninstall the updated component or is it better to leave it there and then run the restore?

Does all that make sense?

Thanks for any help you can give me. I have also posted at the SB support forum so hopefully someone can help me out of this.

Thanks!

All you need to do is uninstall the new component from components==>install/uninstall, then restore the backup of your previous forum table. Is your backup exclusive to the SB tables...or did you back up the whole site? Keep in mind that if your backup was for the whole site and you have made changes to other content since then, you will lose it by restoring...but there is a way around that...let's see what your answer is.

I backed up the whole site but I havent made any changes to content since I backed up except there have been a couple of posts made by some members on the new version of Simpleboard.

If I have to lose those then I can live with that though I'd rather not.

Thank you for your response :)

If you are having problems with your template when viewing posts try copying the old view.php from rc4... it worked for me fine then again, i did not see if much is changed but it works, i will see later for the changes in the files....

Hey pixel

I read jomaco's post here and your post on the TSFM forum last night and then went off to bed to sleep on it all before I did anything else I would regret.

Turned out to be a smart move as by the time I got up this morning the new fixed version of the forum was available and I discovered why I was so ditzy yesterday (PMS/PMT - always sends my brain out of whack :D )

Thanks for your help! It's mostly fixed now.

Thanks for the tip. It worked for me. I was really starting to go bonkers and I even modified my template to no avail. I was on the author's site and he didn't seem to think it was a problem with the component. Thanks again.
