You certainly won't have any trouble finding testers. Add me to the list for sure! I have several test sites going at any given time and will be delighted to have another toy to play with! :)

I think the best thing to do about this, is to create a beta and upload it to Mamboportal.com and have the whole community test it for you ;)

You can add me to the list... gotta go offline now to play ;)
well, since I don't have the site online for now, I'll test it offline using MSAS.
so count me in as a tester.
I'll give it a try tomorrow :)

so as faar as i see i got an issue with the permissions
its the images/stories <-- folder that should be chmod 777
without these my script wouldn't run
i put all the pictures in
images/stories/galleria/
in seperate folders for each categorie
therefore i need the permissions
i think about changing the path but a friend of mine
told me that it would be nice to use the pictures in the media manager
what do you think about it ?
Hi,
I just installed it on my site. No problem in the installation.
When i go to Components->Galleria->"any option" i get the following error.
Warning: Failed opening 'admin.class.galleria.php' for inclusion (include_path='') in /home/.sites/bla/sitename/web/administrator/components/com_galleria/admin.galleria.php on line 11
Warning: Failed opening 'admin.html.galleria.php' for inclusion (include_path='') in /home/.sites/bla/sitename/web/administrator/components/com_galleria/admin.galleria.php on line 12

hm
strange i cannot reproduce this error
did you had a look at administrator/components/com_galleria ?
normally there should be alle the files that there called as an error
i think its an problem on your site
what version of mambo do you have ?
Ok i run mambo 4.5 1.05 with mambelfish corepatches.
I get this error with all the options in the administrator under components -> galleria.
All of the files are in the administrator/components/com_galleria folder
I'll try to install your component on a fresh mambo installation.

i just made up some changes
and fixes several bugs
new version now online
Attention Link changed
Here the new one Get it (http://godlie.bios.at/stuff/mambo/com_galleria_v0.1.zip)
fixed bugs:
--broken links are fixed
--added function (if no pics available show only text)
updated
ok...tested it...
I found the following issues:
1. you should change some words, like when you add a picture, it says: Kommentar,Datei,Kategorie instead of Comment (or Description if you want), Date, Category. Also, replace every Categorie word with Category.
2. it doesn't work to add .png files (.gif works , i'll test more tomorrow)
3. when I choose show pictures,i doesn't display the pictures, just a blank page. Same with edit picture and del pictures.
4. if I have no pictures in a category and I choose Show Categories, it displays a small thumbnail, that pic showed when no picture found or the link to the picture is broken.
PS: Tested on Internet Explorer 6 SP1 and Mambo 4.5 (1.0.5) using your last version.
I'll test more in a few days...try to fix these.

i have the new version now.
hint: try to rename the version so i can see what version i have.

msalcher
08.04.2004, 11:37
oh sorry i forget about it to rename all the files
now all the fiels are accesable over

When I install your component I get
Warning: mkdir() failed (Permission denied) in /srv/www/htdocs/***/html/mambo/administrator/components/com_galleria/install.galleria.php on line 14
Warning: Unable to access ../images/stories/galleria in /srv/www/htdocs/***/html/mambo/administrator/components/com_galleria/install.galleria.php on line 15
Warning: chmod failed: No such file or directory in /srv/www/htdocs/***/html/mambo/administrator/components/com_galleria/install.galleria.php on line 15
Is this a problem because I have a safe mod on hoster?
msalcher
08.04.2004, 13:27
oh this seems to be a permissions problem you have to set chmod 777 on /images/stories
mfg
Ok, install works fine now but when I would like to add a categorie or add a picture I get this 3 lines:
Warning: open_basedir restriction in effect. File is in wrong directory in /srv/www/htdocs/***/html/mambo/administrator/components/com_galleria/admin.galleria.php on line 11
Warning: open_basedir restriction in effect. File is in wrong directory in /srv/www/htdocs/***/html/mambo/administrator/components/com_galleria/admin.galleria.php on line 12
Warning: open_basedir restriction in effect. File is in wrong directory in /srv/www/htdocs/***/html/mambo/administrator/components/com_galleria/admin.galleria.php on line 13
The input-field is shown anyway. When I save a new Category I get more errors like:
Warning: SAFE MODE Restriction in effect. The script whose uid is 1040 is not allowed to access ../images/stories/galleria owned by uid 30 in /srv/www/htdocs/***/html/mambo/administrator/components/com_galleria/admin.galleria.php on line 325
.....
however a safe mode on thing?

Your errors appear to be safe mode related. You can download a safe mode "patch" here:
http://invictones.com/Mambo%204.5%20Safemode%20Patch%20v1.3.4.zip
but I highly recommend finding a host the has safe mode turned off if you will be running a Mambo site. Many fewer headaches in the long term.
Problem is I allready have installed this patch and get this error anyway!

Then I'd look into option number 2 ;)

Hi,
you need to modify the httpd.conf at the server, where you run your Mambo.
Look for the line in your vhost, beginning with "php_admin_value open_basedir" and delete this line.
Next, put in your vhost:
php_admin_value safe_mode Off
After that restart the apache server and everything is working fine.
If you need a hoster where this is working well, get me a message.

I got it.
Installaion was smoth.
But there is no option to display pics horizontaly
actualy they are just in vertical order and spaces betwen them are to big
And how about option to upload more than 1 pic at a time?
This is the feature that everyone on Mambo is looking for!
Just sugestions I hope you don't mind
Tumbnails would be good too.

you mean that you can't choose the way how the Categories are shown.
will be added in the next version.
the option of multiple fileupload is an hard thing.
without an 3rd party script (Jupload) it isn't realisable
i would have to talk to the developer of Jupload so that
i know if i am allowed to use it for my gallery.
otherwise there could be a solution in uploading pics manually
over ftp. an then let the script un the rest.
what would you suggest ?

Ok here are the following errors i get when using the gallery:
When trying to upload the same picture in another categorie, i get the error "already uploaded picture". That is strange when i just deleted the picture in the delete picture option. This means that deleting items will result in items still being in the gallery directory (images/stories/galleria/1/).
when trying to delete the right picture, i accedentally deleted the wrong picture. The word "delete" should be related to the right item (make sure a user will not make a mistake).
after uploading a picture i clicked "back", but it went back to the administrator standard window. It would be better if it went back to upload the next picture (saves time and clicks).
That's all for now, maybe i will test it more later... ;)

so i can now present you after a hard day
version v1.0b with upload function (java needed) available !
Link (http://godlie.bios.at/stuff/mambo/)
com_galleria_v1.0b.zip <-- this file is it !
hf and plz tell me about problems
okay, i took a peek at that 1.0b..
1) yuk, that java-upload like in z00m is back again once more.. okay, i can deal with it. but why not let just choose a dir on the client and then bring up a second screen with all picture-files in that directory, sothat the user can then decide what to upload? would be so easy..
2) why not just create some decent navigation/level/category editor? always those just-one-level navigations.. that's the minus criterium for so many gallery systems.. bad bad bad..
you REALLY should think about that! just take the mambo-mainmenu editor as example, just looks nice.
the rest seems to be okay sofar.. i'll report further when javaapplet finally has uploaded the pictures..
that's about all for now..
bye,
remedy
