Today Mambo Spread Firefox has made two new releases to the Mambo community. Six Firefox search plugins for the major Mambo sites, and a 4.5.1 module to allow easy installation from your Mambo site frontpage.

Four of the plugins were created by myself, the Mamboforge plugin by our new team member Christian Meichtry (drcorbeille) and the official forums plugin by Phil Taylor (prazgod).

We're open to suggestions for further search plugins for future updates of this package. There will also be a release soon of blank code templates to allow easier creation of search plugins for various 3rd party components such as Community Builder and DocMan.

In the meantime, you can checkout the basic tutorial (http://mambers.com/showthread.php?t=17836) I wrote the other day if you'd like to create your own.

Checkitout on the Mambo Spread Firefox Project Page (http://www.mamboforge.net/projects/msf/) or in action over at the 4.5.1 Trial Before Download (http://demo451.corephp.com) site.

In the words of Steven Pignataro of CorePHP/TBD:

"wow that is freaking awsome"

:-D

Cheers,

Damian

I've noticed the search plugin pack is getting twice the downloads of the installer module, possibly because it's only 6k, maybe because the module isn't prominent enough in the file list there.

Anyway, it's really worthwhile getting the module, as it allows users of your site to install the plugins into their Firefox browser, thus really spreading the word of Mambo ;)

Just thought I'd clarify that, just in case.

Cheers,

Damian
