View Full Version : Full Apple OSX X (Safari, Firefox etc.) support.
I tried running my mambo 4.0 backend under mac OS x with the result that the text editor didn't worked like i am used to to it on a windows machine. Or let me say it in other words: mambo and Mac OS X are no very good combination which is very sad, because who needs a cms when you can not use it on every os. The guys over at the developing team should fix that problem. If they do i will switch to the new version but at this point the is no reason for upgrading my current 4.0 installation (using Virtual PC on my Ibook with windows xp running).
The problem isn't related to Mambo but to browsers for Mac OS X. Safari and IE cannot handle editors because theses browser are missing the editing implementations. Everything works fine with Firefox and Mozilla (think someone told me that even Camino works fine, but don't know).
Editors you can use on Mac OS X are: FCKEditor 2.0b, WYSIWYG Pro, HTMLArea3 (XTD).

I can confirm that all the Mozilla browsers seems to be working fine with Mac OSX. Iīve used Mambo for five months now, and all is well.
Fortunatly (or not?), veteran Mac users often experiences that applications build on recommended standard code works fine on their Mac, while more dominating manufactures (guess who!) tends to give a workaround hack the standard status. Itīs annoying but we live with it.
Keep the good work up.

Dachief,
I'm currently working on my 6th site since I've discovered Mambo and it works perfect on my mac with firefox and it looks good on Safari, Opera, Mozilla, Netscpe and even IE. No need to go through Virtual PC. And once you have touched 4.5.1 you don't want to go back. My frist site is still running on 4.5.0.9 and it's a pain. :-)
Probably it's a bit more trying and testing - but as core mac user you should be used to it!
Cheers
Ndovu
