newsflash images wont show

for some reason if i put a content item into a newsflash, the picture doesnt appear. just the text. i did set the parameter of the newsflash module to "show images" but still no luck. (it appears when its on the normal frontpage just fine, but not it i change it to the newsflash module.)

could it be a problem with the module location? it loads on the TOP module section.
