Re: Component suggestions? How hard do you want to work?
I would love to see some type of petition component. I saw a petition on one website that was really great. You could read the pre-written petition, then "sign" your name as well as add your e-mail address in the boxes provided. The script would then e-mail you a confirmation link you had to click to "legitimize" and confirm that you were the one who had signed the petiton. Once all this was done, the peition was e-mailed to the appropriate government official. Heck of an idea, balls in your court.
Another suggestion: I have a friend who would like to be able to upload images, sound (wav or MP3) and perhaps video. He would like to be able to ask questions about the image, sound or video, and have responses e-mailed to him. Kind of like comments, or like what MOSforms does, except the comments are not published like a blog. Like a questionnaire, but one where you could add image, sound and video, and get feedback.
Suggestion three, I'd love to have some sort of a loyalty program point tracker available online. This would be a system where only key individuals could dispense points (like authorized staff who hand out points when a customer makes a purchase), yet, customers could access their file (using a user name and password, or their home phone number) and see how many loyalty points they have collected.
Suggestion four, how a slot machine game? I'm thinking a slot machine type game, but, with a twist. Of course, it would be fun if you could upload your own images into the slot machine (like, three pictures of my ugly mug...wins you a prize). You could set the prize payout rate (lean, rich, 50/50 one in ten, etc), and the prizes could be inputable from the admin backend. This would be a fun way to get folks to visit the website. They "pull" the lever, and if they get three "gazorkles" (or 3 of whatever image you uploaded), you can print out your prize and redeem it at the website owner's place of business. Could be a fun way to get restaurants more involved in their websites.
Five: I'd like to see some sort of a rudimentary point of sale. I know folks who offer a pick up and delivery business. They would like to be able to have their customers fill in a "ticket" via the website, and print out a receipt. Once the ticket is filled in, the website e-mails the website owner, who dispatches a driver to pick up the order. This would be a nice feature for small parcel pick up business. I would like to request that you could input or set up the front end menus via the admin backend.
Six, come to think of it, why not a pizza ordering system component? Set up the pizza menu, add the toppings in drop down menues, add address and phone number, the website e-mails the order into the pizza parlor.
Hmm...I'm good at coming up with ideas, suck at writing code.
Have at it if you want.
Thanks.
