Re: Joomla! 1.0 Released Should of course note that whenever you do any sort of hacking, patching, upgrade or conversion work, you should always backup your database and where possible your files.
The optimal situation is having your site mirrored/backed up locally and testing patch/upgrade/conversion work on your local system first, to test out what issues might crop up.
Of course even then this may not iron out all issues, as your local server environment is usaally different from your server environemnt.
Another method is to have a complete copy of your site in a subdomain and test patch/upgrade/conversion on that system.
I guess what I am trying to highlight, is that although the Team makes it a priority to maintain interoperability between point releases (e.g. 1.0.1, 1.0.2, etc) some bug fixes may have unintended consequences that can affect 3rd party components.
So always take necessary safety measures - one can never be too safe.
